The league was established in the 2016-2017 season with the intention of providing a place for 6th grade athletes to compete. At the time, middle school basketball didn’t start until 7th grade. The league also provides the opportunity to improve and grow their skills to 6th – 8th grade athletes who don’t make the middle school team. There is a girls’ and a boys’ division.

The purpose of the league is to provide a place for all to play so there aren’t any tryouts or cuts. We do have an observation day in which players participate in drills and scrimmages so coaches can evaluate skill levels. After the drills and scrimmages are complete, coaches conduct a draft to assemble teams. The goal is to distribute team members equally in order to ensure a large amount of playing time to every player and an equal distribution of skill levels. There are league rules regarding playing time which guarantee that all players will play a certain amount of each game. The league playing time rules do not apply to the 4th quarter in order to create excitement and competitiveness to the league. There is a league tournament that all teams participate in at the end of regular season play. Tournament seeding is based on regular season team performance. A boy’s division champion and girl’s division champion are crowned each year.
